Co-operatives UK becomes Reach Fund Access Point
News item
The announcement enhances the Co-operative UK's capacity to support organisations that are raising finance through community share offers.
Co‑operatives UK is proud to announce it has been appointed as an Access Point for the Reach Fund, which helps which helps community benefit societies (and, in some cases, co-operative societies), charities and social enterprises to raise investment finance.
The Reach Fund programme offers grants of £5,000 to £15,000 to help these organisations prepare and provide important information that investors need before they can invest.
Access Points are social investors approved by the Reach Fund who refer organisations they are working with to apply for grants. Applicants need a referral from an Access Point to be considered for a grant.
John Dawson, Head of Market Development for the Community Shares Unit at Co‑operatives UK, said: "To date, the Booster Fund, which we deliver in partnership with Locality, Plunkett Foundation, and Co‑operative and Community Finance, has supported more than 150 organisations to raise finance through community shares.
"They’re a flexible, effective way to raise capital, giving people a chance to invest and have a say in the organisations that matter to them.
"Being a Reach Fund Access Point will also streamline processes, enabling organisations who are already talking to us through the Booster Fund, or our advice team, to apply for the Reach Fund via our recommendation.”
