About us
As the voice of the UK’s co-operative movement, we empower and support co-operative enterprise with specialised knowledge and expertise, to grow the co-operative economy and create a fairer society.
What is Co-operatives UK?
We are a co-operative. As a co-operative we are owned by our members. Our members are co-operative organisations and organisations which support co-operatives and co-operation. We operate for their benefit and the ownership and control of Co-operatives UK lies with our members.
With thousands of members - either direct members or through our federal members - Co-operatives UK is a network of thousands of co-operatives. By promoting shared wealth through member ownership, we are committed to enable anyone in the UK to form, or join, thriving and sustainable co-ops.
Our vision is to build a better world through co-operation.
Our mission is to empower and grow the UK's co-operative economy by being the voice of co-operation and member ownership.
How do we do this?
We promote co-ops by lobbying policy makers and raising awareness of co-ops to the public through our campaigning activities.
We develop co-ops by providing specialist advice to co-operative businesses, and securing funding to support the sector to grow and thrive.
We unite co-ops by organising national events, local workshops and networking sessions so co-ops can connect, learn and do business together.
